After and early breakfast with Dan and Jen, I headed out to Parry Sound, ON. Since they lived south of Sault Ste. Marie, I had to backtrack along the 30+ mile road I took the night before. I think it is the straightest stretch of road I’ve been on my whole trip.
It took a while to get out of the Sault Ste. Marie and back towards the North Channel of Lake Huron. The scenery wasn’t as nice as around Lake Superior; however there were some nice stretches, such as when the road followed the curves of the Vermillion River.
The geography changed significantly as highway 17 rose up to Sudbury and then south on highway 69. It had been rocky all the way around Lake Superior and Huron, but now it was more pronounced. I won’t bore you with the geologic reasons for this, but I did research it. Another change was that the weather was now warmer. A downside of this is mosquitoes, which were plentiful at the campsite.
Due to the long day of riding, I didn’t make many stops, except for the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame in Parry Sound, ON. I got there shortly before closing, but I did get a chance to take a few shots in the shooting gallery.
